35 seats in the United States Senate will be decided this November 8th, with 21 of them belonging to the Republican Party and 14 to the Democrats.
Both parties hold 50 seats at the moment, with the tie-break majority delivered by current Vice President and Senate President Kamala Harris.
The GOP only needs to gain a single seat to retake the US Senate majority, and there are a few battleground states where the Republican Party appears to have an edge over the DNC candidate.
Georgia and Pennsylvania feature two tightly contested races where territories that have been blue have the potential to flip red, according to the odds posted at popular US Senate election betting sites.
Celebrity candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz (R) is facing off against John Fetterman (D), a grassroots politician who was the mayor of Braddock, PA, and is now the Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania.
At first, election betting sites weren’t giving Oz much of a chance at winning his race, but large sums of money have been pouring into his campaign coffers in recent months.
Dr. Oz’s spending tactics seem to be doing the trick, as his poll numbers and betting odds have improved drastically in the weeks leading up to election day.
US Senate Election Odds For Pennsylvania
Mehmet Oz (R) -190
John Fetterman (D) +145
Betting on Dr. Oz is by no means a certain win, but the above odds are reflective of where gamblers are laying their money.
When it comes to political betting, gamblers wager on who they think will win and not their preferred candidate – a major reason why they’re often more accurate than polling sites.
Still, both Oz and Fetterman are hovering close enough to even money to suggest that either has a legitimate chance of winning.
Another closely contested US Senate battle is going down in Georgia, where former Heisman Trophy-winning running back, Herschel Walker, holds a slim lead over incumbent Raphael Warnock.
Georgia US Senate Election Odds
Herschel Walker (R) -150
Raphael Warnock (D) +110
Just like Dr. Oz, gamblers were not all in on Walker as a candidate when first announced. Now, with just one week to go before ballots are cast, most online gamblers are betting on Herschel Walker to win.
The Georgia Senate betting odds are much tighter than in PA and reveal the possibility that votes could be split nearly right down the middle, just like they were during the 2021 special elections.
2021 Georgia US Senate Special Election Results
Raphael Warnock (D) – 2,289,113 Votes (51%)
Kelly Loeffler (R) – 2,195,841 Votes (49%)
The above win by the Democratic Party in GA gave the DNC the majority in the US Senate, so use this as an example when anyone tells you that your vote doesn’t matter.
Your bet also matters if you intend to secure some gambling profits based on the 2022 midterm election results, but you can’t win if you don’t place a wager between now and November 8th.
